The Beacon system is supported by a team of volunteers from U3As around the country. You might know that the system is going through a major update in the next 12 months and as a result we are looking to expand the team.
We need all sorts of skills as we will not only be updating all documentation and the Beacon website, but also helping and guiding existing users across to the new system. All this in addition to responding to the increased interest that the new version may well create.
You do not need to be expert in computing. Our team consists of a range of roles, including administrative support, training manual authors, and more – as well as those who understand the software, how it works and how to implement it. So, some knowledge of Beacon is essential for some roles – but not all.
One new area of work is video creation. We want to put together some guidance videos to supplement the existing training manuals. We need help now, and if possible, using members with any past experience in this field.
If you think you would be able to help in any role, be it for a short period in specific areas or as a longer-term member of the team, please contact us. We are very happy to talk through roles that might interest you so you can then decide if you want to join our team.
We are a friendly and supportive bunch and although spread around the UK, we all help and support each other. In summary, we are just a group of typical U3A members.
Why not send us an email? We will then get back to you and will be very happy to talk through how you can fit into the team.
