Beacon responds to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

To the Beacon community,

In response to the ongoing situation relating to Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Beacon Team and the Third Age Trust are taking a number of steps which we detail here.

Support to Beacon users and U3As implementing Beacon will now be delivered exclusively on a remote basis, using a range of tools including telephone calls, videoconferencing and the Beacon Helpdesk.

There will be no face-to-face presentations or demonstrations until further notice, but Beacon supporters are equipped to deliver these remotely.

Beacon users are reporting how Beacon is helping them keep in touch with their members during this difficult period.

The rollout of the Beacon Upgrade is now planned to take place not before September 2020. Work on the project will be continuing, and U3A members will continue to be involved in the work on a remote basis.

Beacon Upgrade Project update presentations will continue to run for Beacon Team members and those who have registered their interest in being involved in the project specifically.

We have set up a new sub-forum on the Beacon User Forum where you can share ideas and best practice with the Beacon community.

The Third Age Trust are publishing advice on the national website and we would urge you to check this on a regular basis.

Further updates from the Beacon Team will be published on the Beacon website and in Beacon News.

With best wishes,

Frank Bailey – National Support Lead

Sam Mauger – Chief Executive

Adam Walton – Project Executive
